What We Need
Opportunities have arisen in the Transport and Allowances Team to appoint 10 part‑time, term‑time only Passenger Assistants. You must live within the Plymouth boundary or be able to transport yourself to within the City of Plymouth Boundaries for pick‑up.
What You’ll Do
Passenger Assistants are employed to accompany children and young people (4 – 25 years of age) who have special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), on their journey to and from school/college or other educational establishments. They are responsible for the health, safety and wellbeing of the children and young people between home and school.
When You’ll Do It
Hours vary but will be around school/college opening and closing times. You will need to be available between approximately 7:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. and between 2:30 p.m. and 5:15 p.m., Monday–Friday, to apply for this role. You will be required to provide 10 journeys a week – 5 mornings and 5 afternoons.
How It Works
You will need to work on your own initiative and have a genuine interest in supporting children and young people with SEND. Passenger Assistants are usually picked up and returned home by the school transport vehicle.
What’s Provided
Full training will be provided prior to commencing work and an enhanced DBS check will be undertaken for these posts. The Disclosure & Barring Service Check requirement for this post is an Enhanced Check + DBS Children’s Barred List.
