Overview
Chapter House is a 24‑hour supported housing project based in West Bromwich. The scheme provides temporary accommodation for single homeless people with support needs, including ex‑offenders, for stays up to one year.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the health and well‑being of clients by managing health & safety, fire safety, and safeguarding issues.
- Assess and manage risk effectively, including risk of harm and risk of re‑offending.
- Work in partnership with the county council’s preferred support provider.
- Assist each client in identifying their support needs and empower them to acquire the skills to achieve their objectives, as set out in the support plan reviewed monthly.
- Respond calmly to crises and provide practical support that meets clients’ needs.
Qualifications & Experience
- Full‑time support worker with previous experience in a supported housing or community setting.
- Knowledge of the criminal justice system and services for homeless and ex‑offenders.
- Excellent communication skills when working with vulnerable people.
- Strong team player able to work well under pressure.
- At least 1 year of experience supporting vulnerable people.
- Understanding of housing benefits and the supported housing sector.
- Ability to provide advice, guidance, and practical support in challenging situations.
- DBS check required upon successful application.
