Job Description:

About the Role

We’re here to create and harness knowledge, to deliver opportunity for everyone.

We’re looking for an Admissions Assistant to play a key part in delivering a high‑quality, applicant‑focused admissions service.

You’ll support the full lifecycle of application processing—creating and updating applicant records, making initial decisions against set criteria, and ensuring that every decision is accurate, consistent, and aligned with university procedures.

You’ll also help applicants feel supported and informed through clear, timely communication.

Your work will span a wide range of activities, from coordinating interview arrangements and preparing applicant documentation to assisting with enrolment, DBS checks, and welcome events.

You’ll collaborate closely with academic teams, professional services, and external bodies such as UCAS and the DfE to resolve queries and keep processes running smoothly.

This role is varied and fast‑paced, offering opportunities to build strong working relationships, develop expertise in Higher Education admissions, and contribute to key university events such as Open Days, Interview Days, and Graduation.

Please note this position is currently only open to Edge Hill University staff members in a substantive post.

As part of the University’s ongoing commitment to redeployment, this vacancy may be withdrawn at any stage of the recruitment process if a suitable redeployee is identified.

About You

As an Admissions Assistant, you will thrive in a fast‑paced environment where accuracy, organisation, and great people skills matter.

You will be confident using digital systems and Microsoft Office, and take pride in handling detailed information with care.

You will be expected to plan your workload well, stay calm under pressure, and balance independent work with being a supportive team member, offering excellent customer service to applicants, students, and colleagues.

Above all, you bring a positive, flexible approach and a commitment to creating a welcoming, inclusive experience for every prospective student.

Benefits

A minimum of 35 days annual leave per annum, pro rata (inclusive of bank holiday and University closure days).

Discounted membership to our onsite state‑of‑the‑art sport and leisure facilities.

Staff benefits scheme, which provides discounts across the high street, supermarket shopping, cinema tickets, dining out and more.

Employee assistance programme with access to free confidential counselling sessions, legal & financial advice, and health & wellbeing resources.

A wide range of development programmes to enhance your career.

Beautiful award‑winning on‑campus working environment.

Automatic enrolment into the Local Government Pension Scheme.

Proud member of the Disability Confident employer scheme.
