Specialist Cardiac Physiologist | Theatre | Full Time | Permanent | Hull and East Riding Hospital
Spire Hull and East Riding Hospital are looking for an experienced and motivated Specialist Cardiac Physiologist to join our established Cardiology team on a full-time, permanent basis.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong clinical expertise across non-invasive and invasive cardiology who is keen to develop within a varied hospital setting, supporting both outpatient diagnostics and angiography/cath lab procedures.
Duties and responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality non-invasive cardiology investigations in line with scope of practice, including ECGs, ambulatory monitoring and exercise testing.
- Participate in angiography and cath lab procedures, supporting invasive cardiology, cardiac devices and electrophysiology activity where appropriate.
- Prepare patients, equipment and clinical environments to ensure investigations and procedures are carried out safely and effectively.
- Monitor patients throughout procedures, responding appropriately to changes in condition and escalating concerns when required.
- Accurately interpret findings, produce clear reports and communicate outcomes to the multidisciplinary team.
- Support the day-to-day running of the cardiology service, contributing to service development, audit and quality improvement.
- Act as a positive role model, supporting colleagues and maintaining professional, safety and governance standards.
Who we’re looking for
We are looking for a confident, professional and patient-focused Cardiac Physiologist with strong technical knowledge and the ability to work autonomously as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- A relevant qualification in Clinical Physiology, Medical Physics/Physiological Measurement or equivalent, such as BSc Clinical Physiology or HNC in Medical Physics and Physiological Measurement.
- RCCP registration or equivalent professional registration/accreditation.
- ILS or ALS qualification.
- Experience across a broad range of cardiology investigations, including ECG, Holter monitoring, BP monitoring and exercise stress testing.
- Experience working within angiography/cath lab procedures and a good theoretical understanding of cardiology patients.
- Specialist experience in pacemaker therapy, device follow-up and/or echocardiography.
- Additional professional accreditation or qualifications would be advantageous, for example BSE accreditation, British Pacing and Electrophysiology/HRUK accreditation, respiratory accreditation or a postgraduate qualification in medical ultrasound.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain procedures clearly and sensitively to patients.
- The ability to prioritise workload, meet deadlines and adapt to the changing needs of the department.
- A proactive approach to continuous professional development, quality improvement and service development.
- The confidence to work independently while also contributing positively to a supportive team environment.
