CarmichaelUK is recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Package Manager to join a major long-term redevelopment project at a high-security Royal Navy site in Plymouth. This role is critical in overseeing the safe and efficient delivery of a complex M&E package as part of a wider infrastructure upgrade.

Please note: Due to the secure nature of the site, BPSS clearance is mandatory. Only candidates with an EU, NATO, 5 Eyes, or MISWG member passport who have lived in the UK for the past 5 years can be considered.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the safe planning, procurement, and delivery of mechanical works on site.
  • Coordinate with internal and client teams to review and optimise designs.
  • Drive delivery to meet quality, safety, cost, and programme requirements.
  • Manage change control, risk, and opportunity within your workstream.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, standards, and statutory obligations.
  • Provide leadership and support to site teams and subcontractors.
  • Maintain quality records including ITPs, RAMS, and lifetime documentation.
  • Oversee interdisciplinary coordination across all stakeholders.
  • Manage short-term planning using tools such as Aphex; ProjectWise experience desirable.
  • NEC4 contract familiarity is beneficial.

Candidate Requirements:

  • HNC in Mechanical Engineering or NVQ Level 6 in Construction Management (or above).
  • SMSTS & CSCS (White or Black Card).
  • Proven experience managing M&E works on large-scale construction projects, ideally in defence, nuclear, or industrial sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of construction buildability, CDM regulations, and commissioning processes.
  • Background in mechanical trades or installation highly advantageous.
