Introduction: Do you enjoy engaging with the public? Are you a good, empathetic communicator and listener? We are looking to recruit a Registration Support Assistant to join our team at Hereford Register Office. The Registration Service plays a unique role in the local community, providing a service to a range of customers at key moments in their lives. You will utilise your excellent people skills to provide a high quality service to those wishing to attend an appointment or organise a ceremony. The role demands high standards of accuracy, attention to detail, and the willingness to work within a legal framework. Above all, it requires the ability to be sensitive and flexible to the needs of the public at life changing and emotional times in what can sometimes be a high pressure environment. This is a rewarding role offering great personal satisfaction, where you will have the opportunity to meet and support a hugely diverse range of people. If you are looking for a rewarding, varied and complex role where no two days will be the same then this could be the role for you.

The Role

The role provides back office and administrative support to our registration and ceremonies teams, as well as answering enquiries from customers both face to face, by phone and by email. Customers you will be supporting include those registering a birth, death, marriage or civil partnership; organising their marriage, civil partnership, vow renewal or baby naming ceremony; or becoming a British citizen.

The role involves working on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays on a fixed term contract basis until 31 March 2027. The working hours are 08:55-16:45 with half an hour for lunch. The role is based at our Hereford Register Office at Gardner Hall in Venns Lane but includes covering our certificate office at the Town Hall on a rota basis.
