Stradbroke is an excellent community school with a real family feel. As consistently one of the highest performing schools in the region, Stradbroke combines high academic standards with high levels of pastoral care. We provide a wide ranging co‑curricular programme and proudly fulfil SET’s vision of providing a world class education locally. We aim to be a centre of excellence for learning and teaching, where all students achieve the highest standards in their education, their personal development, their behaviour and conduct. Our latest Ofsted inspection in Nov 2023, was ungraded but reported we were “likely to be outstanding” on a graded inspection.

THE ROLE

The school caters for students of all abilities from its local community, including those with SEND. Due to an increase in the number students in the school who require additional support we are looking to increase our Teaching Assistant (TA) staffing. The successful candidate would be mainly classroom based supporting students to access their learning but would also potentially work with small groups to complete tailored interventions.

The SEND Department plays a crucial role in the success of students and therefore a commitment to wider opportunities such as attending trips or being a first Aider would be an advantage.

General Responsibilities

  • Under the instruction/guidance of the SENDCo, teaching or other senior staff and within the overall ethos of the school, undertake activities to support individuals or groups of pupils.
  • Provide specialised support for those with special educational needs, enabling access to learning for pupils.
  • Assist the teacher in the management of pupils and the classroom.

Professional Competencies

  • Communicate clearly and tactfully using appropriate methods.
  • Maintain positive relationships and effectively work as part of a team.
  • Be flexible, resilient, multi‑task and work under pressure.
  • Plan and organise effectively, prioritise, meet deadlines and accept challenges.
  • Take responsibility for own actions.

Personal Competencies

  • Engage with pupils appropriately and with best interest in mind.
  • Work with minimum supervision.
  • Understand statutory requirements and policies.
  • Maintain confidentiality appropriately.
  • Work as part of a team.

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • A minimum of a grade C/4, or equivalent, in English and Maths GCSE.
  • Previous experience working with children in a classroom or similar environment is highly desirable.
