Warwickshire Fire & Rescue Service is looking for a dedicated and professional Driving Instructor (Driver Trainer) to join our Training and Development team. As a Driving Instructor, you will deliver training and influence behaviour, building capability and embedding a culture of safety and excellence across the Service. About the Role
You will deliver initial and refresher driver training across a wide range of service vehicles, ensuring all drivers meet statutory, operational and safety requirements while developing their confidence and capability on the road.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Deliver practical and theoretical driver training across all vehicle categories
- Train and assess staff to become Large Goods Vehicle (LGV) and Emergency Response drivers
- Monitor and assess driving standards, providing clear, constructive feedback
- Design and develop driver training programmes and courses
- Maintain accurate training records in line with legislation and awarding body requirements
- Provide specialist vehicle and equipment training
- Ensure all training is delivered in line with health and safety standards and best practice
- Support continuous improvement by advising on driver training, legislation and operational practice
Key Requirements
- A full, clean UK driving licence including categories B, B+E, C, D1, D1+E held for a minimum of 3 years
- DVSA Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) or working towards this
- Experience driving a range of vehicles, including LGVs
- An assessor qualification (or equivalent) in competence assessment
- Strong understanding of vehicle and driving legislation
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
