Lunchtime Support Assistant

Working Hours & Location

Positions available at Hadley & Madeley sites.

  • 8.17 hours per week – Monday 11:50 am to 2:00 pm (includes training), Tuesday to Friday 11:50 am to 1:20 pm
  • 15.67 hours per week – Monday 11:00 am to 2:40 pm (includes training), Tuesday to Friday 11:00 am to 2:00 pm (Scale 1 spinal point 3, term‑time plus 5 PD Days)

About The Bridge Special School

The Bridge School is a friendly, welcoming, all‑age special school for pupils with profound, complex and severe learning difficulties. Operating across multiple sites in Telford, it provides a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment tailored to each pupil’s needs. The school achieved an ‘Outstanding’ rating from Ofsted (July 2025). Our main aim is for pupils to achieve and progress in a setting where they are safe, happy and respected at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils during lunch by helping with eating or feeding, fostering social interaction and facilitating transitions.
  • Supervise pupils in the dining hall, classroom, playground and other indoor spaces.
  • Encourage positive behaviour, play and communication.
  • Assist pupils with personal care needs where required.
  • Maintain a safe, calm and inclusive environment at all times.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching and support staff to uphold the school’s values and safeguarding standards.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Demonstrated caring, patient and compassionate attitude towards pupils with complex needs.
  • Capacity to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues.
  • Strong team working skills.
  • Resilient, reliable and adaptable, with creativity to respond to pupils’ individual needs.
  • Willingness to undertake training to learn specialist skills and approaches used within the school.
  • Enhanced DBS check required.
  • Specified level of spoken English required; role involves customer‑facing duties under the fluency duty.
