Groundworker Apprentice
BAM is a trusted name in construction, delivering high‑quality infrastructure projects. As a Groundworker Apprentice, you will be involved in delivering multi‑million projects and supporting the construction of foundations, drainage systems, and more.
Location: Various projects (some travel and living away expected). Start date: September 2026. Contract type: Full time/permanent.
What you’ll be doing
- Preparing and levelling construction sites.
- Laying foundations, drainage systems, and concrete.
- Operating and maintaining tools and equipment.
- Following health and safety protocols on‑site.
- Working as part of a team to complete a variety of groundwork tasks.
You’ll gain hands‑on experience while working towards a Level 2 Groundworker Apprenticeship with support from experienced mentors and on‑the‑job training. You will work across multiple pumping station projects.
What you’ll need
Academic Requirements
- Desirable: GCSE Maths and English grade 5 or above. You will be supported to build on your academic achievements during the apprenticeship.
- Must not already hold a similar qualification of the same level.
Additional Requirements
- A driving licence is desirable or the willingness to obtain one during the apprenticeship.
- Projects may be located away from public transport, so you should be willing to relocate to a project location and have or learn to use a vehicle.
- You may be required to live away on projects; BAM will pay a living away allowance and cover travel expenses.
