Purpose of the Role
The Business Development Manager drives new business growth within the SME fleet sector (sub-50 vehicles) by proactively generating and converting leads for car and LCV leasing products. This role is responsible for acquiring new clients (80% of focus) and developing existing accounts (20%) to support the overall commercial objectives of the business. The position requires a confident, target-driven professional with a strong hunter mentality and the ability to build long-term customer relationships.
Location: Hybrid (Home‑based with two days per week in Pinley House or Botanica Hubs)
Salary: £40-£45k based on experience
Bonus: 15% AIP
Job Deliverables
- A strong and sustainable pipeline of SME prospects.
- Regular outbound activity through calls, emails, and digital channels.
- Conversion of qualified prospects into long-term customers.
- Tailored leasing proposals and presentations.
- Effective management of assigned customer accounts, ensuring growth and retention.
- Accurate CRM records of opportunities, activities, and outcomes.

- High-quality prospecting that drives pipeline growth.

- Strong collaboration with internal teams to support customer delivery.
- Accurate and timely use of CRM systems.
Necessary actions to achieve deliverables
- Identify and target SME fleets proactively to generate quality leads.
- Conduct outbound sales activity daily to achieve sales income targets.
- Understand customer needs and develop tailored leasing solutions.
- Deliver clear, compelling sales proposals and negotiate terms.
- Maintain regular communication with existing accounts as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC).
- Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities within the account base.
- Work closely with internal operational teams to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Maintain professionalism, resilience, and a positive attitude during high-volume sales activity.
Required Knowledge and Skills
Education level, professional qualifications, vocational training:
- Educated to minimum of A‑Level standard or equivalent is preferable.
Required experience:
- 3-years proven experience in a B2B sales role is essential.
- Experience of negotiating at a senior level
- Experience within car leasing, automotive, fleet, or financial services is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of Funding and Fleet Management solutions would be advantageous
IT Skills profile:
- Strong IT skills to include, knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Working with CRM platform (E.g. Salesforce)

- Excellent written and verbal communicator
- Comfortable handling objections and rejection
- Maintains motivation and bounces back quickly from lost deals or slow periods
