Freelance Senior Client Manager (open to part-time 6 month FTC)
Location: Manchester City Centre
Requirements: 24 hours per week split across 5 days – available immediately
The Role
We’re looking for a Senior Client Manager to join us on a freelance or fixed-term basis to support a period of growth across our client portfolio. You’ll be embedded in the client strategy team, owning day-to-day relationships and leading project delivery across a mix of performance marketing accounts.
This is a hands-on role. You’ll be the primary point of contact for your clients, working closely with the performance and discoverability team, creative, content production and data teams to deliver work that performs. A background in professional or financial services is a strong advantage – you’ll hit the ground running with clients who operate in regulated, complex environments.
What You’ll Do (Main responsibilities)
Client Management
- Own day-to-day client relationships, acting as a trusted, proactive partner
- Lead regular client status meetings, QBRs, and performance reviews
- Identify and progress organic growth opportunities within existing accounts
- Manage client expectations with confidence escalating where needed, resolving where possible
Performance Marketing Delivery
- Oversee delivery of paid media, SEO, and/or digital performance campaigns across your portfolio
- Brief internal and external teams clearly, ensuring outputs are on time, on budget, and on brief
- Track campaign performance, interpret data, and present insights and recommendations to clients
- Hold the agency and client accountable to agreed KPIs and commercial outcomes
Project and Commercial Management
- Manage project finances including forecasting, billing, and PO management
- Maintain up-to-date status documents, contact reports, and project trackers
- Flag resource or timing issues early and work with senior leads to resolve them
- Contribute to scoping, proposal writing, and pricing for new briefs within existing accounts
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- 4–6+ years in a client services role within a marketing, digital, or integrated agency
- Demonstrable experience working on performance marketing accounts (paid search, paid social, programmatic, SEO, or similar)
- Confident managing senior client stakeholders independently
- Strong project management skills — you’re organised, proactive, and calm under pressure
- Commercially aware, with experience managing budgets and billing
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred
- Experience working with professional services or financial services clients (e.g. legal, accountancy, insurance, banking, wealth management)
- Familiarity with regulated marketing environments and the nuances that come with them
- Experience working with or managing a performance or data team within an agency
Our commitment to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
We had always thought our business was open and inclusive. Afterall, one of our values is “Everyone matters”. We hammer home the behaviour of treating everyone with respect, seeing things from the other person’s perspective, understanding that everyone has different values, responsibilities, concerns, families.
But when you delve a little deeper into Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, this value is a great place to start but it involves so much more.
Here at Trunk, we naturally welcome difference. It’s what gives us strength as a business, the wide breadth of experience, capabilities, and perspectives. And any creative business knows that the best ideas don’t come from just one place. Diversity is important, but we feel what makes the real difference is inclusivity, or the act of helping people feel valued and enabled regardless of their differences.
We have really then only just begun our diversity and inclusivity journey. We started by ensuring everyone has mandatory training to help people understand what it means to be inclusive. We’ve set up a panel of people within the business to champion difference, and we have ambassadors who are gaining their IPA D, E & I certifications. We continue to learn and evolve, and realise that this is not a quick win, or a ‘one and done’.
We are adapting our practices, offering home working, flexibility around start times, offer monthly life-balance days, offer access to mental health professionals, assess our working spaces to accommodate brilliant neurodivergent minds. And will continue to evolve to enable the difference around us.
