Assurance Engineer – Cardiff, Wales

Salary: Up to 70,117 | Lan at 70,117

TheRole

Responsible for the risk-based approach to managing rolling stock safety issues. Introduce improvements to maintenance processes and independently review engineering change proposals. Develop specialist engineering knowledge and understanding of standards to support improved fleet safety and performance

Role responsibilities

  • Undertake daily product safety monitoring identifying potential safety related defects, accidents and incidents requiring further investigation, producing and presenting a daily report. Update necessary systems and databases as required.
  • Use specialist engineering knowledge to risk assess technical issues. Develop in collaboration with the wider engineering team mitigating actions and permanent preventative improvement plans.
  • Support the technical assurance manager in the review the applicability of National Incident Reports. Support the issue of TfW NIRs
  • Undertake periodic reporting and use data to drive risk based decision making. Attend and chair periodic Safety Management Group Meetings.

Who we’re looking for

  • Relevant Engineering qualification (Degree./HNC) and/or suitable relevant industry experience
  • Experience of Product Safety procedures within a Rolling Stock environment
  • Experience taking a risk based approach to decision making
  • Experience of Rolling Stock Engineering Change process. Experience interpreting and applying railway standards.
  • Ability to collaborate and work to operational deadlines.
