A bit about us

Beavertown began life in a tiny BBQ joint in Haggerston, North London. In 2020 we opened BEAVERWORLD, our out of this world brewery & mothership in Ponders End. Alongside our Lockwood Brewery in Tottenham Hale and our micro-brewery at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium we have the capacity to brew a staggering 90 million pints a year.

Now, we’re happily brewing loads of great beer – for everyone to enjoy – anywhere in the universe…although tastes best when drank on Earth. So, if you’re into tasty beer with a difference, you’ve come to the right place.

The role

We’re looking for a pro-active, driven Data Engineer to join our growing data team at Beavertown Brewery.

Data is at the heart of everything we do – from understanding our customers to optimising brewing operations and driving commercial performance. In this role, you’ll play a key part in connecting data from across the business into a single, reliable platform that stakeholders can trust.

You’ll work closely with teams across the organisation, building robust data pipelines and transforming raw data into meaningful insights that power decision-making. If you enjoy solving problems, building scalable solutions, and working in a collaborative environment – we’d love to hear from you.

What you’ll be doing

As a Data Engineer, you’ll help ensure our data platform is accurate, reliable, and fit for purpose. Your key responsibilities will include:

Data Engineering & Pipelines

  • Build and maintain data pipelines to integrate commercial, operational, and financial data into our platform
  • Ensure pipelines are reliable, monitored, and kept running with minimal disruption
  • Troubleshoot and resolve pipeline issues quickly to avoid impacting reporting

Data Transformation & Quality

  • Write code to transform raw data into structured, consistent datasets for analytics
  • Implement data validation checks and quality testing within pipelines
  • Ensure data is accurate before it reaches business users

Data Governance & Best Practice

  • Follow version control and deployment processes to safely release changes
  • Maintain clear and up-to-date data documentation
  • Handle personal and sensitive data in line with GDPR and company policy

Collaboration & Support

  • Support the wider business in using data effectively, enabling self-serve analytics
  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand data needs and priorities
  • Contribute to the data community, sharing knowledge and improving practices

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone who combines strong technical foundations with a proactive, collaborative mindset. You’ll ideally have:

✅ Intermediate SQL skills

✅ Basic Python knowledge

✅ Experience with Git and version control

✅ Understanding of ETL/ELT concepts and data pipelines

✅ Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms

✅ Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

✅ A proactive approach with the ability to own and deliver tasks

Desirable:

  • Experience with Azure Data Factory, Databricks or Apache Spark
  • Familiarity with tools such as Fivetran
  • Understanding of modern data architectures (e.g. medallion architecture)
  • Exposure to CI/CD, Azure DevOps or Jira
  • University degree in Computer Science, IT, or Maths preferred, but not essential.

Why join us?

At Beavertown, you’ll be part of a passionate, creative team where data plays a central role in shaping the future of our business.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work on varied and meaningful data challenges, develop your technical skills, and make a real impact in a growing and supportive organisation.

What’s in it for you?

  • Discounts on Beavertown beer and goodies
  • Discretionary bonus
  • 25 days Annual Leave plus bank holidays, plus your birthday off
  • 2 volunteering days each year
  • Private healthcare
  • Company pension
  • Life Assurance (x3) and Group Income Protection
  • Regular team and company socials, including monthly lunch
