Job Description:

PE Global is currently recruiting for an experienced Quantity Surveyor for a 12-month contract role with a leading global engineering and energy infrastructure organisation based in Wrenhall or Peterhead.

Location: Meeting on site at least twice a week. Regular travel required to project sites in Wrenhall and Peterhead. Travel and accommodation expenses covered.

Contract: Outside IR35

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, administer, and monitor subcontractor and material costs across assigned projects.
  • Prepare Bills of Quantities (BoQs), specifications, cost plans, and cost analyses.
  • Undertake site measurements for progress payments and variation assessments.
  • Prepare and submit client progress claims for completed works.
  • Review, verify, and authorise payments to subcontractors and key suppliers.
  • Monitor project costs and provide regular commercial reporting to Project Managers.
  • Attend commercial interface meetings (currently a minimum of two per week).
  • Maintain logs of Early Warnings, Requests for Information (RFIs), and associated cost adjustment claims.
  • Support the Lead Contract Manager in developing strategies to recover project claims and entitlements.
  • Work closely with Interface Managers and Engineering teams to manage interface milestones and report programme slippages.
  • Evaluate quantum claims, rates, and pricing using historical project data, BCIS, and benchmarking techniques.
  • Support procurement activities and site purchasing requirements.
  • Attend monthly project meetings at Wrenhall and Peterhead with client representatives.

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience within heavy industrial, infrastructure, engineering, or power sector environments.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience managing subcontractors and commercial contracts.
  • Strong understanding of commercial, contractual, and construction management principles.
  • Experience coordinating and managing multiple subcontract packages simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of standard form and bespoke construction contracts.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, and Outlook.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Desirable Requirements

  • Chartered status or actively working towards chartership.
  • Experience within power transmission, energy, utilities, or major infrastructure projects.
  • Technical or engineering background.
  • Experience managing claims, variations, and entitlement assessments.
