Operational Excellence & Stability
- Manage day-to-day operations of core infrastructure, including data centres, LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, and server environments.
- Develop, implement, and maintain robust standard operating procedures (SOPs) covering backups, disaster recovery, patching, and hardware lifecycle management.
- Ensure reliable connectivity between the AS/400 (iSeries) platform and modern application systems.
- Monitor security events internally and coordinate responses with external SOC/MDR partners.
Leadership & Vendor Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Infrastructure and Network team.
- Act as the primary contact for ISPs, hardware vendors, and managed service providers (MSPs).
- Oversee infrastructure budget planning, spend control, and hardware procurement.
Required Skills & Experience
- 10+ years’ experience in IT infrastructure management, ideally within a large-scale retail or wholesale environment.
- Strong expertise in TCP/IP, routing, switching, firewalls, and Azure networking (ExpressRoute/VPN).
- Proven experience with Windows and Linux server administration, along with virtualisation platforms (VMware/Hyper-V). Familiarity with AS/400 (iSeries) connectivity is advantageous.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure (IaaS and PaaS).
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and manage high-pressure incident response, including root cause analysis and service restoration in line with SLA commitments.
- Strong communication, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills across technical teams, service desk, suppliers, and business units.
- Experience with IT service management practices, including Jira, SLA tracking, incident and problem management, and CAB processes.
- Solid expertise in Active Directory and related services, including Group Policy, DNS, and AD Sites and Services.
