Overview
The successful candidate will apply their clinical negligence expertise to review case acceptance and provide expert legal insight throughout the Medical Law Services (MLS) process. They will ensure that appropriate leads are accepted quickly and confidently, support MLS customers in identifying and resolving key issues, and maintain a feedback loop to identify training needs and deliver legal training as required. This role directly influences how colleagues think, learn, and operate.
Responsibilities
- No billing targets.
- No negotiation pressures.
- Work on meaningful, early-stage legal work.
- Provide high-level analysis and real influence over quality and outcomes across MLS services.
- Review and audit clinical negligence leads vetted by the MLS team.
- Shape and deliver legal training across the MLS business.
- Strengthen decision making by offering clear, confident guidance on complex legal matters.
- Drive continuous improvement through feedback loops, analyze trends in casework, identify recurring issues, and translate insights into actionable recommendations.
- Collaborate closely with operational teams to embed legal considerations at every stage of the MLS process.
- Champion best practice and compliance, ensuring all case-related decisions align with legal frameworks, internal policies, and industry standards.
- Contribute to strategic initiatives by supporting wider business projects with legal expertise that improves processes, enhances quality, and strengthens customer outcomes.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in clinical negligence case management.
- Background in legal case assessment and screening.
- Strong legal expertise.
- Sharp analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Stakeholder management skills – ability to work across cross-functional teams, influence decisions, and act as a trusted legal partner.
- High attention to detail ensuring accuracy in decision making.
- Commitment to continuous improvement, proactively identifying trends, improvement opportunities, and case quality standards.
- Strong experience with Proclaim or similar software tools (e.g., Adobe, Microsoft).
