Overview

CGI’s Space, Defence and Intelligence business unit delivers contemporary and innovative technical solutions to government agencies. We are looking for an experienced DevOps engineer to join a cross‑functional team that will partner with clients to define, guide and assure the delivery of integrated solutions in a highly secure environment.

Responsibilities

Your duties will include:

  • Designing and deploying scalable, secure platforms that enable clients to operate confidently in high‑stakes environments.
  • Collaborating closely with developers, testers and platform specialists to diagnose and resolve complex technical challenges.
  • Recreating tests, validating configurations, enhancing pipelines and automating key elements of the software‑development lifecycle to drive efficiency and reliability.
  • Ensuring quality assurance of applications and their deployment into traditional IaC‑driven environments such as Puppet‑managed infrastructure and Kubernetes platforms.
  • Actively participating in Kanban and/or Scrum events, helping to plan, estimate and prioritise work.

Security Clearance Requirements

Due to the secure nature of this project, candidates must either already hold, or be eligible to obtain, a high level of UK Security Clearance. Eligibility requires:

  • Sole British nationality.
  • Residence in the UK for the past 10 years.
  • No stay outside the UK exceeding 28 consecutive days in the last five years.

Applicants who do not currently hold clearance are encouraged to apply and may be considered for this position and other suitable opportunities within CGI.

Work Environment

This role is primarily based on a secure client site and requires on‑site attendance five days per week due to the sensitive nature of the work. Occasional flexibility may be available where business needs and security constraints allow, subject to prior agreement with the project team.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Kubernetes, Argo, Rancher
  • Cloud experience
  • Linux administration
  • Experience with Puppet or similar infrastructure‑as‑code tooling
  • Scripting languages including Python, Java and Bash; proficiency with Git/SVN source control systems
  • Firewalls, infrastructure architecture, IP networking

We do not expect candidates to master every listed skill; a strong ability to learn quickly and contribute across the technology stack is essential.
