The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a high standard of care to dialysis patients and ensuring an excellent learning environment for patients and staff. With the support of the Clinical Matron and Lead Clinicians, he or she will participate in relevant projects and ensure strict compliance with infection and dialysis guidelines to develop the service. The post holder must have excellent interpersonal skills and capacity to work autonomously as a clinical expert.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and update protocols and related practice in line with current evidence-based practice.
- Ensure the care delivered to patients and the setting meets monitoring standards of care.
- Selection, deployment, training, and development of staff and students.
- Assessment, development, and implementation of specialised nursing packages of care.
- Ensure compliance with all clinical guidelines and hospital policies by all staff.
- Create and support a learning environment and promote continuous professional development.
- Provide highly specialised nursing advice to ensure appropriate treatment and care is delivered to the patient at all times.
- Refer and order specialised tests in line with agreed protocols and clinical governance guidelines.
- Motivate and engage patients in shared or self-care.
- Provide holistic patient-centred care to all dialysis patients.
- Assess, plan, and implement specialised packages of nursing care to patients as the named nurse.
Qualifications
- Substantial renal nursing experience.
- Passes in renal degree modules or the ENB 136 certificate.
- Keen interest in advanced dialysis practice.
- Self-motivated with excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Capacity to work autonomously as a clinical expert.
