Maintenance Engineer
Location: Holmewood, Chesterfield
Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum (DOE)
Working Hours
- Monday to Friday – 06:00 to 14:00
- Monday to Thursday – 14:00 to 22:30 / Friday – 14:00 to 20:00
- Monday to Thursday – 08:00 to 16:30 / Friday – 08:00 to 13:00
Flexibility is required to support overtime and changing business needs.

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join a busy manufacturing operation. This is an excellent opportunity for a multi‑skilled engineer with a strong mechanical bias who enjoys working in a fast‑paced production environment.
The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining production equipment, supporting planned maintenance activities, responding to breakdowns, and assisting during business shutdown periods.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance activities across production machinery and site equipment
- Respond quickly to machinery breakdowns, carrying out fault finding and repairs to minimise downtime
- Support pre‑planned maintenance schedules and business shutdown activities
- Perform maintenance on pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical and electrical systems
- Repair, maintain and modify tooling where required
- Work alongside external contractors and support site improvement projects
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and KPI data
- Monitor critical spare parts stock levels
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives across the maintenance function
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with company procedures
Experience & Skills Required
- Proven experience within a maintenance engineering role in a manufacturing, production or heavy plant environment
- Multi‑skilled engineer with a mechanical bias preferred
- Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving ability
- Experience working with:
- Gearboxes
- Pumps
- Bearings
- Motors
- Valves
- Compressors
- Presses
- Chillers
- PLC knowledge and experience desirable
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and engineering drawings
- MIG welding experience advantageous
- Good IT skills including experience using ERP systems and Microsoft Office
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team
