Overview

Nisbets Limited is recruiting a Health, Safety and Compliance Manager to join our H&S team to support delivery and embedding of our Health, Safety and Compliance strategy across the business. At Nisbets, the role will play a key part in driving a positive safety culture and ensuring legal and regulatory compliance across our warehousing, logistics, retail, and office environments. You will act as a trusted advisor to operational leaders, providing guidance, insight, and practical solutions to support safe and efficient operations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate site inspections, audits, safety tours and compliance reviews across operational environments.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of risk assessments, safe systems of work and safety controls.
  • Ensure Health, Safety and Compliance policies are effectively communicated and consistently applied.
  • Provide expert advice and pragmatic solutions to support legal compliance and risk management.
  • Support and lead incident investigations, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Analyse incident and performance trends, providing insights to support continuous improvement.
  • Develop and deliver training, toolbox talks and coaching to build capability across the business.
  • Act as a key user of H&S systems, ensuring accurate reporting, data management and KPI tracking.
  • Coordinate audits and compliance activities, ensuring actions are tracked and completed effectively.
  • Partner with operational and senior leaders to embed safety and compliance in decision-making.
  • Promote a proactive and positive Health & Safety culture across all sites.
  • Identify and implement improvements to systems, processes and ways of working.

Qualifications

  • A recognised Health & Safety qualification (minimum Level 3, e.g. NEBOSH General Certificate), with a commitment to further development.
  • Membership of IOSH or an equivalent professional body.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly across multiple sites.
  • Proven experience in a Health & Safety role within logistics, warehousing, retail or similar operational environments.
  • Experience working across multi-site operations, conducting audits and investigations.
  • Strong understanding of UK Health & Safety legislation and its practical application.
  • Excellent communication, coaching and influencing skills, with the ability to engage at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Health & Safety systems/software.
  • A proactive, collaborative and solutions‑focused approach, with a passion for improving workplace safety.
