Healthcare Support Worker

Responsibilities

• Support patients attending the chemotherapy unit for SACT treatments, ensuring comfort, dignity, and wellbeing throughout their visit.
• Undertake venepuncture and ECG recordings.
• Assist registered nurses with clinical duties, including observations (e.g., blood pressure, pulse, temperature) and specimen collection.
• Provide emotional support to patients and their families during treatment journeys.
• Prepare clinical areas, ensuring they are clean, well‑stocked, and ready for patient care.
• Assist in patient flow, including escorting patients to and from treatment areas and clinics.
• Work collaboratively with the nursing team, medical staff, and multidisciplinary team (MDT) to ensure safe and efficient service delivery.
• Support chemotherapy clinics, assisting with patient assessments, documentation, and clinic flow.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in line with Trust policies.
• Promote infection prevention and control in accordance with local guidelines.
