Location: Birmingham, B28 Weekly Pay Rate: £500 – £580 Start Date: ASAP Days: Monday to Friday (Term Time Only) Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm Contract: Long-Term to Permanent Vacancy
Long Term Futures are recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate Learning Mentor to join a welcoming primary school in North Birmingham. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a strong pastoral team, supporting pupils who require additional emotional, behavioural and social support throughout the school day.
The successful candidate will work across the school, providing both 1:1 and small group mentoring interventions for pupils who may be experiencing challenges with behaviour, attendance, emotional regulation or engagement with learning. You will play a key role in helping children develop resilience, self-esteem and the skills needed to succeed both academically and socially.
The Role
Deliver 1:1 mentoring sessions for pupils requiring additional supportRun small group interventions focused on wellbeing, resilience and social skillsSupport pupils with SEMH needs, behavioural challenges and emotional regulationConduct regular wellbeing check-ins and monitor pupil progressBuild positive relationships with pupils, families and staffSupport behaviour management strategies across the schoolWork alongside teachers, the SENCO, safeguarding team and external agenciesEncourage positive attitudes towards learning, attendance and school life
The Ideal Candidate
Previous experience supporting children with SEMH or behavioural needsExperience working in a pastoral, mentoring, youth work or school-based support roleStrong behaviour management and relationship-building skillsUnderstanding of emotional wellbeing and trauma-informed approachesAbility to remain calm, patient and resilient in challenging situationsExperience working with external agencies and support services (desirable)Relevant qualification in Education, Youth Work, Counselling or similar (desirable)DSL or safeguarding training would be advantageous
