Two permanent, part-time (18hrs & 24hrs) Scheme Support Officer roles are available at our Young Persons accommodation service in Moriston, Swansea. Both roles operate on a four‑week rolling rota. The 18‑hour position involves working two days per week, while the 24‑hour role includes a mix of day shifts and sleep‑in duties, with an additional £62.64 paid per sleep‑in.
The Swansea Young Persons service provides temporary accommodation to young people aged 16‑24 who are experiencing homelessness. The service delivers intensive, housing‑related support to individuals who are ready to gain independence and a tenancy of their own.
As a Young Persons Scheme Support Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well‑being of the young people in our service. You will provide emotional and practical support, assist with any issues that may arise, and contribute to a calm and stable environment.
Responsibilities
- Empower individuals with the knowledge and tools needed to live independently.
- Address complex behaviours and needs, including alcohol misuse, mental health issues, substance misuse, and offending behaviour.
- Work with a wide range of personalities and behaviours, including individuals who may be resistant to support.
- Adapt your approach to effectively engage with a diverse clientele.
- Undertake lone working, requiring strong communication skills, resilience, and confidence to work on your own initiative.
Qualifications
- No previous experience or specific qualifications are required; this role requires a passion to work with and enable people to live as independently as possible.
- An enthusiasm and passion for making a difference to people’s lives.
- A strong initiative and ability to work alone as well as being a great team player.
- Ability to deal with conflicting and difficult situations.
