Based in Kensington but will be required to work from Hallam weekly and sometimes travel to Traralgon as required (drivers licence essential)

Hourly rate

A little bit about you

You are a highly organised and community-minded professional who enjoys supporting volunteers and coordinating essential services that make a difference. You have strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills and the ability to balance operational requirements with a people-focused approach. Experience in community services, food relief or hospitality is highly regarded, but not essential.

Skills and Experience

  • Experience supporting day-to-day operations, program delivery or volunteer-led services.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Community Services, Welfare or equivalent (highly regarded)
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Excellent organisational, problem-solving and time management abilities, with a focus on quality and compliance.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of Microsoft Office products i.e. Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word and data management

About the role

The Soup Van Program is a vital service of St Vincent de Paul Society Victoria, providing food relief and meaningful social connection to people experiencing or at risk of homelessness and food insecurity.

As the Soup Van Coordinator, you will provide support and resourcing for the Soup Van Program across Victoria. The position is responsible for the smooth running of the Soup Van Program, ensuring all volunteers are inducted safely and efficiently, food and vehicle safety regulations are met, training materials are regularly updated, and volunteer compliance is monitored and maintained.

  • Implementing team plans that support the delivery of high-quality service to individuals accessing the Soup Van program
  • Supporting the Soup Van Leaders to build a cohesive and engaged team
  • Assisting in the induction and coaching of volunteers
  • Monitoring/auditing Soup Van vehicles, equipment and facilities
  • Supporting the Soup Van Operations Team in developing and implementing exciting new projects and initiatives
