About the Role
The Senior Air Traffic Services Assistant is accountable to the Head of Air Traffic Services for the efficient management and training of ATSAs, maintaining standards and competence, while adhering to all statutory and regulatory requirements. The role involves providing operational support across the Air Traffic Services team to deliver a safe and efficient service for all air traffic in and out of Doncaster Sheffield Airport (DSA). Key tasks include liaising with internal and external stakeholders, coordinating flight schedules, and ensuring timely communication of changes and updates.
Key responsibilities
- Manage and develop a team of ATSAs.
- Coordinate with airport departments affected by ATSA duties.
- Facilitate meteorological services and ensure ATC personnel achieve required competency standards.
- Act as met examiner for ATC personnel and manage the meteorological information archive system.
- Oversee ATSA training, including initial validation and annual competency, in accordance with the ATSA manual.
- Manage ATCO training for ATSA duties, use of flight information software, flight planning, meteorological systems, NOTAMs, SNOWTAMS, and other ATSA tasks.
- Maintain and input information to the airport flight information software and systems; be an active member of the user group.
- Represent the department in meetings, including the safety management team on ATC related issues.
- Provide accurate daily and monthly ATC statistics to managers for corporate reporting.
- Perform all duties associated with ATSA responsibilities.
Candidate profile
Successful candidates will have recent experience as a Senior Air Traffic Services Assistant or appropriate experience as an Air Traffic Services Assistant. They will possess a passion for aviation, strong communication skills, and the ability to make decisions and multitask in a challenging environment.
