Creative Arts Assistant (full‑time, temporary)

£475 – £500 per week (salary is dependent on experience and/or qualifications)

Start date: July 2026

The School and Role

We are recruiting a Creative Arts Assistant to work in a specialist SEN school in Wigan. The school supports pupils with additional learning needs, including Autism, and provides a structured, nurturing, and inclusive environment.

In this role, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to deliver creative arts activities, provide 1:1 and small-group support, and help pupils build confidence, develop skills, and engage positively with learning. This role is ideal for candidates with a creative arts background seeking hands‑on experience in education or SEN settings, particularly those considering careers in teaching, SEN support, or creative arts education.

Requirements

  • Have a background or strong interest in creative arts (music, drama, visual arts, or related fields)
  • Have experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable adults (education, SEN, care, or youth work preferred)
  • Demonstrate a genuine interest in supporting pupils with additional learning needs, Autism, or SEMH challenges
  • Be patient, resilient, and confident working with children in a specialist school setting
  • Have strong communication skills and a positive, proactive approach
