Overview

Role

The SENCO role sits squarely in our regional School Leadership Team (SLT). We are looking for a practitioner who shares our vision and can embody our ethos in every decision and conversation they have, be it with students, parents or professionals. Supported by a regional Executive Head Teacher, headteachers, administration, compliance teams, a specialist Head of Teaching, Learning and Curriculum, and a broader network of SENCOs across the country, you will focus on what matters most and lead the support of effective teaching and learning across all sites.

Responsibilities

  • Observe children in class and at leisure to provide feedback, support and advice to staff.
  • Manage annual reviews of Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) and coordinate assessments and applications across local authority teams.
  • Lead the provision of inclusive, child‑centred education for students with a range of Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) and SEND needs, including Autism, ADHD and communication difficulties.
  • Provide crisis‑management and support for challenging behaviours, working with children with SEMH difficulties.
  • Collaborate closely with parents, families and professional teams to engage hard‑to‑reach or disengaged families.
  • Progress professionally within a growing national organisation.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Hold an appropriate SENCO qualification such as PGCiPP, NASENCo or similar, or have experience in a SENCO role and be willing to undertake qualification within two years of taking up the post.
  • A proven record of good or outstanding teaching practice.
  • Excellent, efficient and emotionally intelligent communication skills.
  • Sound working knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice.
  • Desire to work inclusively within an emotionally literate environment and support children who have experienced adverse childhood experiences (ACEs).
  • A strong ambition to progress professionally within an expanding, child‑centred national organisation.
