The Company
Digby Morris is working in partnership with a leading international cost consultancy and project management practice with a significant presence across the Middle East, Africa and Asia. Employing several hundred professionals across the region, the business provides specialist commercial management, quantity surveying, project controls and advisory services to a diverse portfolio of public and private sector clients.
The Project
Our client has been appointed to provide professional quantity surveying and commercial management services on a major multi-billion-dollar transport and infrastructure development currently under construction in Rwanda.
The programme comprises a substantial portfolio of buildings, utilities, transportation infrastructure, operational facilities and associated support assets being delivered as part of a nationally significant development programme.
The Role
Reporting to the Commercial Director, the Senior MEP Quantity Surveyor / MEP Commercial Manager will take responsibility for the commercial management of all Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health (MEP) works across the project.
Key Responsibilities
- Cost planning and commercial management of MEP packages.
- Measurement, valuation and assessment of contractor applications.
- Evaluation, negotiation and agreement of variations and change orders.
- Preparation and review of interim valuations and final accounts.
- Contract administration and commercial reporting.
- Cost forecasting, cashflow monitoring and budget control.
- Review of procurement strategies, tender documentation and commercial submissions.
- Identification and management of commercial risks and opportunities.
- Liaison with clients, consultants, contractors and key project stakeholders.
- Preparation of commercial reports and presentations for senior management.
The Person
- BSc Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or equivalent.
- Minimum 10 years’ post-graduate quantity surveying experience.
- Demonstrable MEP commercial management experience on major building, transportation or infrastructure projects.
- Experience on large-scale transport, rail, aviation, healthcare, data centre, energy or mixed-use developments would be advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of FIDIC forms of contract and international contracting environments.
- Previous experience working in Africa and/or the Middle East would be beneficial.
- MRICS or equivalent professional accreditation preferred.
- Excellent commercial, contractual and stakeholder management skills.
