Role Description This is a full-time National Account Manager role based in Greater Manchester. The National Account Manager will manage and grow existing relationships whilst also nurturing and building new relationships with key national and strategic retail customers, acting as the primary point of contact for all commercial and operational matters. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing account plans, identifying growth opportunities through bespoke product development, and achieving sales, margin, and distribution targets across assigned accounts. The role will involve preparing and delivering customer presentations, negotiating trading terms and promotional plans, and collaborating with internal teams in sales, marketing, product, and supply chain to ensure excellent execution. The National Account Manager will analyse sales and market data, monitor performance versus targets, provide accurate sales forecasts, and contribute customer insights to support product development and range planning.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in national or key account management within FMCG, consumer goods, giftware, or a related retail-focused sector.
  • Strong skills in relationship management, negotiation, and presentation, with the ability to influence decision-makers at multiple levels.
  • Commercial acumen, including experience with pricing, margin analysis, promotional planning, and sales forecasting.
  • Competence in data analysis and reporting using CRM systems and tools such as Excel or business intelligence platforms.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to different stakeholders.
  • Highly organized, able to manage multiple accounts and projects, prioritize workloads, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable collaborating cross-functionally with sales, marketing, design, operations, and finance teams.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites, trade shows, and wherever the business requires.
  • Proven experience in approaching and opening new National Account Business, across the grocery and multi chain, multi channel retailers.
  • Experience in developing bespoke and exclusive ranges in cohesion with the internal design and PD function, utilising the businesses existing supply base in order to curate ranges on behalf of both existing and potential new customers.
