Location:Manchester (Hybrid Working)

Salary:£65,000 £75,000 + Package

A well-regarded construction company specialising in large-scale residential and student accommodation schemes is looking to appoint an experiencedDesign Manager. With projects ranging up to£80 million, this is a key role in managing the design process from pre-construction through to delivery.

About the Role:

As Design Manager, youll be responsible for coordinating the design elements of multiple live and pre-construction projects. Youll ensure that all design information is delivered on time, aligns with project requirements, and supports cost-effective, buildable solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the design process from tender through to completion
• Coordinate consultants, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders
• Ensure designs are compliant with planning, building regs, and client specifications
• Identify risks, design clashes, and potential programme impacts early
• Support value engineering and contribute to build-ability reviews
• Work closely with project, commercial, and planning teams to align design and delivery

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Design Manager in main contracting, ideally on residential or student accommodation projects
• Background in managing design on complex, multi-million-pound developments
• Good technical knowledge of construction methods, regulations, and industry standards
• Excellent coordination, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills
• Able to manage multiple design packages and deadlines simultaneously
