Principal Engineer – Up to £62,000 – Hybrid
An award‑winning Managed Service Provider with over 40 years of success is looking to add a Principal Engineer to its Cloud & Managed IT division.

The Role
We are hiring a Principal Engineer to join an established Cloud Services team.
This is a hands‑on technical leadership position, ideal for someone who enjoys remaining close to the technology whilst also influencing engineering standards and supporting the development of others.
- Act as the senior technical authority across Managed IT services
- Provide hands‑on leadership whilst remaining actively involved in engineering and troubleshooting
- Mentor and support engineers, driving technical consistency and best practice
- Serve as the final escalation point for complex infrastructure and platform issues
- Lead major incident investigations, root cause analysis, and remediation activities
- Drive service improvement, resilience, security, and governance initiatives
- Work closely with Operations, Cloud, Security, Professional Services, and Service Management teams to enhance service quality and reduce recurring issues
- Contribute to customer remediation, transformation, and technical uplift projects
The Candidate
Essential Experience
- 7 years of experience within an MSP or Managed Services environment
- Previous experience operating in a senior technical position with leadership responsibilities
- Strong combination of hands‑on technical expertise and influencing skills
- Proven experience acting as a senior escalation point for complex issues
- Experience mentoring engineers and raising technical standards across teams
- Strong background delivering technical improvements and transformation projects
