PHP Developer

PHP Software Developer – Melksham (Office Based) – Permanent – Up to £65k

Our client based in Melksham are on the lookout for a highly motivated Software Developer to join an experienced in-house team building and improving business-critical systems. This is a hands‑on role focused on developing robust internal applications, solving real operational problems and supporting a fast-moving business environment.

Key responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain scalable applications using PHP (Raw/Vanilla), MySQL and JavaScript
• Improve existing systems for performance, usability and reliability
• Troubleshoot technical and business‑critical issues
• Work closely with internal teams to deliver effective software solutions
• Use modern development tools, including AI‑assisted workflows

Key skills and experience:

• Strong PHP 7/8 experience with solid OOP principles
• Strong MySQL and relational database knowledge
• HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript experience
• Python knowledge, ideally with exposure to AI projects
• Experience with VSCode and AI-assisted development tools
• Ability to work independently and solve complex problems

Desirable skills:

• AWS, Docker, Git, Redis, RabbitMQ
• SQL Server, ElasticSearch/Lucene
• Linux server administration via SSH
