Staff Nurse – Neonatal Unit (Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust)
Overview
We are seeking an energetic, committed and enthusiastic Staff Nurse to join our Paediatric Neonatal Unit. This 36‑hour per week role will rotate over a 7‑day schedule, including internal rotation days and nights.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver individualised patient care, supporting the assessment of care needs and development, implementation and evaluation of care programmes in line with agreed standards.
- Support the Lead Nurse in maintaining quality, quantity and timeliness of care, and in upholding the core values of the ward/department.
- Undertake, perform and assess enhanced clinical skills to improve the patient experience and journey.
- Participate actively in all aspects of the admission and discharge process.
- Question and apply expert professional knowledge within the team, influencing the application of theory in practice.
- Identify, maintain and improve the quality of care through evidence‑based practice.
- Ensure compliance with the NMC Code of Conduct.
- Demonstrate awareness of and participation in development to meet service demands and adapt to changing needs.
- Empower self and colleagues to creatively meet professional and organisational objectives.
Qualifications
- Current NMC registration.
- Experience in neonatal or paediatric nursing preferred.
Working Pattern & Terms
- 36 hours per week.
- Scheduled rota over 7 days with internal rotation days and nights.
- Vacancy advertised on a fixed‑term basis (12 months or until the substantive postholder returns). Potential for permanent placement.
- May become a permanent post in the future.
- Senior positions (Band 8a and above) may be expected to participate in an on‑call rota.
