We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Specialist Lead Nurse to join our Children’s Community Nursing Service within the Inclusion Nursing Team. The role is based within Leeds Specialist Inclusive Learning Centres (SILCs) across the city and provides specialist nursing care to children and young people with complex health needs, additional needs and learning disabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality clinical care within the SILC setting and manage a defined caseload of children with complex health needs.
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care to ensure children are supported to safely access education.
- Provide leadership and development to a team of registered and non-registered staff, including clinical guidance, supervision and day-to-day support.
- Oversee daily clinical resources, coordinate shifts and ensure safe and effective service delivery.
- Teach and support colleagues, and deliver training to education staff, external professionals and families.
- Collaborate across services with other clinical teams, reflecting our cross-service model of care.
- Lead on projects and support continuous improvement within the Inclusion Nursing Team.
Qualifications & Experience
- Registered nurse with previous clinical experience working with children or adults who have complex health needs or additional needs.
- Access to transport and the ability to travel with appropriate business insurance.
- Strong communication skills, confident decision-making, and the ability to prioritise, organise and delegate work.
- Openness to receiving training, induction and preceptorship to develop confidence and competence for independent practice.
Working Hours and Location
The service operates Monday to Friday, with working hours between 08:00 and 16:00, providing all year round cover (excluding bank holidays). Flexible working arrangements will be considered where possible.
