Job Overview

An experienced, enthusiastic and highly motivated Band 2 Health Care Support Worker (HCSW) position is available at Ruperra, Ready to Go Ward, Royal Gwent Hospital. The role is open only to staff currently employed by Aneurin Bevan University Health Board. Work will continue in the future under a national review and may progress to Band 3.

Responsibilities

  • You will have the opportunity to develop your skills under the supervision of qualified nurses, caring for patients during their rehabilitation phase with the aim of achieving the best possible outcomes.
  • The post holder will work under the supervision of a registered nurse or clinical lead and collaborate with them and the wider multi‑disciplinary team (MDT).
  • You will be expected to demonstrate a genuine interest in nursing, possess strong communication skills and maintain a patient‑centred approach.
  • You will be required to carry out a range of assigned tasks involving direct and indirect care to ensure the delivery of high‑quality person‑centred patient care.
  • 10am shift system will be flexible, including nights and weekend working, on a 12‑hour or a three‑shift system where required.

Eligibility

Only staff currently employed by the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board will be considered for this role.

Qualifications and Experience

Band 2 HCSW with experience in a hospital setting is required. Experience in a rehabilitation ward is desirable but not essential. Candidates must meet all essential criteria as per the attached job description/person specification.
