Patient Pathway Coordinator
The closing date is 01 July 2026.
The role is to support the delivery of safe, timely and efficient elective care pathways. The candidate will manage surgical patient pathways, ensuring theatre lists are fully utilised and patients progress through their pathway in line with RTT and Trust requirements. They will allocate and manage designated specialities, coordinate bookings and proactively address capacity or pathway issues.
The position works closely with Surgeons, Clinical Services, Theatre Teams and Operational Managers to ensure effective list utilisation and patients are treated within national waiting time standards. Flexibility, strong organisational and communication skills, and the ability to work within a fast‑paced, high‑volume team environment are required.
Main Duties
- Manage surgical booking processes and coordinate theatre capacity.
- Prioritise and manage workload, including inboxes and competing tasks.
- Communicate with clinicians and services with confidence.
- Identify and resolve pathway risks and potential breaches proactively.
Person Specification
Education / Qualifications
- A Level or equivalent.
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience.
Skills and Abilities
- Work as part of a team.
- Confidently handle the public and manage a range of patient calls.
- Organise own workload; work under pressure and in stressful situations.
- Excellent verbal and telephone communication skills; good written communication.
- Computer literate with good keyboard skills.
- Willing to continue personal development and training.
Experience
- Experience working with the public.
- Experience of data collection and data entry.
- Experience of administration/customer service.
- Experience on a team.
- Experience improving performance.
- Experience supervising others.
- Experience using hospital administration electronic patient record systems.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Experience in a contact centre.
- Knowledge of the eRS system.
