Locum Child Protection Social Worker

Job Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Child Protection Social Worker to join a dynamic team in Barrow-in-Furness on a 3‑month locum contract.

Location: Barrow-in-Furness. Contract Type: Locum (3‑Month Contract). Rate: £45 per hour.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of children subject to Child Protection Plans, Child in Need plans, and care proceedings.
• Undertake comprehensive assessments, risk analyses, and develop effective care plans.
• Conduct Section 47 investigations and participate in strategy discussions.
• Prepare high-quality reports for court and attend legal proceedings as required.
• Work collaboratively with multi‑agency partners to achieve the best outcomes.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records in line with statutory requirements.

Requirements

• Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.
• Minimum 3 years’ post‑qualifying experience within Child Protection or Safeguarding.
• Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989 and 2004.
• Ability to manage a demanding caseload and work independently.
• Excellent communication, assessment, and report‑writing skills.
