Pupil Support Assistant

Canal View Primary School – Salary: £26,806 – £27,032 (pro-rata for part-time and sessional). Hours: 26.5 per week, 39 weeks sessional.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic individual who can work collaboratively as a member of the school team, assisting in meeting the educational, care, and welfare needs of all pupils, ensuring those with additional support needs can effectively access the curriculum.

Hours: 26.5 hours per week, Mondays to Thursdays 8.45am to 3.15pm and Fridays 8.45am to 12.30pm.

Canal View Primary School serves the community of Wester Hailes. The school has a broad social mix, with 77% of learners living in SIMD 1 and 2. The school receives Positive Action and Pupil Equity funding. Canal View Primary School is organised into fourteen classes from P1‑7 and has a Nursery offering 64 full‑time places.

The school is led by a Head Teacher, a Depute Head Teacher, two Principal Teachers, and a Business Manager. There are eighteen class teachers and three part‑time Support for Learning Teachers, supported by a School Administrator, Pupil Support Assistants, two Pupil Support Officers, and a Facilities Technician. The Nursery has a Senior Early Years Officer, Early Years Officer, Early Years Practitioners, Early Years Assistants, and an Early Years Domestic Support Assistant.

This position is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more abroad in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. Offer and commencement are subject to satisfactory pre‑employment checks.
