What You’ll Do:

Manage a caseload of clients with complex needs, including those prescribed OST.

Complete comprehensive assessments, risk management plans, and recovery plans.

Deliver structured psychosocial interventions (PSI) and facilitate group work.

Conduct regular care planning and reviews in line with national guidance.

Work closely with multi‑agency partners to provide holistic support.

Contribute to safeguarding processes and risk escalation where required.

What We’re Looking For:

Experience in substance misuse services or related health/social care settings.

Strong understanding of recovery‑focused approaches and harm reduction.

Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Ability to manage complex caseloads and work collaboratively with partners.

Knowledge of national guidance and clinical governance requirements.

Main duties of the job

  • Provision of drug & alcohol treatment to Service Users within the locality.
  • Holding a caseload of service users and being responsible for offering a range of interventions to those individuals.
  • Supporting service users through their treatment journey from beginning to end.
  • Embracing the concept of recovery and demonstrating this in your practice and work.
  • Ensuring that your work is evidence based, up to date and in accordance with current policy and legislation.
  • Keeping up to date and accurate records and documentation.

Job responsibilities

  • Provide harm reduction advice, information, and support with an emphasis on safer drug use, safer sex, HIV, Hepatitis A, B and C and other blood borne infections.
  • Be responsible for maintaining a full case load of complex clients as the key worker.
  • To make home visits consistent with need.
  • To carry out comprehensive assessments, construct care packages with multi-disciplinary colleagues where required, review care plans in a structured format and manage onward referral.
  • To assist and support medical and nurse prescribers during harm reduction and prescribing clinics.
  • To provide a range of structured psycho-social interventions including CBT based brief solution focused therapy and motivational enhancement techniques.
  • Make domiciliary visits to service users particularly for those with disabilities and to those with family responsibilities.
  • Retain contact with service users whilst they are accommodated in residential rehabilitation units including visits when required.
  • To create and facilitate group work interventions.

Qualifications

  • Foundation Degree / HNC in related field which may include counselling, social work, nursing, psychology, human resources, social studies or equivalent experience.

Experience

  • Considerable experience of working with drug users.
  • Experience of working with techniques such as CBT, Motivational interviewing, and Solution focused therapy.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to work collaboratively with other professionals.
