Maternity Support Worker

Job Overview

Full and part time hours considered. We are currently seeking enthusiastic Maternity Healthcare Support Workers to join our team at Princess Alexandra Wing, Royal Cornwall Hospital. Successful applicants will support the midwifery team in delivering high standards of care to women and their babies.

Responsibilities

• Assist and support midwifery staff with clinical duties, establishing rapport with mothers and families and communicating their needs to the midwife.
• Support women to maintain personal hygiene and appearance following delivery, record changes in skin appearance or bodily functions on appropriate record charts, and report any changes to the Registered Midwife.
• Assist women with eating and drinking, ensuring appropriate diet and fluids, and complete intake records in a timely and accurate manner, reporting any difficulties to the Registered Midwife.
• Work as a team member and perform clerical duties as designated by the Ward Manager.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 (Health) or Health Care Certificate.
• Venepuncture skills and knowledge of supporting feeding choices are desirable; training will be provided to the right applicant.
