Support Services Assistant – Band 2 – Part Time 18.5 hours per week (7‑day period)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic person to work at the Darwin Unit.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean and hygienic environment for patients, visitors and staff in line with the National Standards of Cleanliness.
- Provide the full Cook Service on a day‑to‑day basis.
- Communicate daily with patients, staff, visitors and the general public; report problems to the Support Services Supervisor, Department / Service Lead.
- Follow established procedures and schedule of work, including Food Hygiene, Health & Safety legislation, Trust Food Safety policy, National Standards of Cleanliness, COSHH regulations and relevant Trust policies.
- Provide cleaning provision to client areas and offices, including domestic, clinical and mixed recycling waste management and stock storage.
- Carry out specialist cleaning procedures in response to infection control outbreaks, new builds and refurbishments.
- Ensure cleanliness of kitchen, serving area, crockery, cutlery, kitchen utensils and food trolley.
- Ensure all areas are clean and tidy, especially prior to and following mealtime services.
- Prepare dining room environment and provide food and beverage service to clients as required.
- Regenerate frozen / chilled food and plate and serve food attractively.
- Provide cover during annual leave, sickness and absence, including weekends and bank holidays.
- Work on own initiative and as part of a team; accept, organise and prioritise instructions; be flexible about working hours and schedules.
Qualifications
- Basic Health & Safety / COSHH Training.
- GCSE level numeracy / literacy or equivalent.
Experience
- Prior experience of prioritising own workload.
Other Information
- Previous cooking/domestic experience will be beneficial but no formal qualifications are required.
- This role is not eligible for sponsorship.
- Disclosure and Barring Service Check as per Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
