Area Environmental Services Officer

We are looking for an enthusiastic Environmental Services Officer to join our Waste & Environment Delivery Services team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the delivery of essential environmental services across Wirral.
Working as part of a collaborative and community‑focused team, you will help ensure our neighbourhoods are clean, safe, and well‑maintained. You will work closely with residents, partners, and colleagues in response to environmental issues, support service delivery, and contribute to wider initiatives that encourage positive environmental behaviours.
About The Role
This is a varied role with a strong focus on problem‑solving, partnership working, and improving outcomes for our communities.
- Investigating complaints and enquiries
- Providing advice, guidance and supervision to behaviour change team members
- Providing waste management advice to residents
- Monitoring contractor compliance
- Supporting audits
- Performance monitoring
- Procurement activity
The post holder will represent the service at community meetings and work as part of a wider team to maintain high standards of environmental quality across the borough.
About The Candidate
We are seeking someone who is passionate about environmental quality and public service. The ideal candidate will be a confident communicator, able to engage effectively with a wide range of people. They will be organised, proactive, and capable of managing a varied workload, with a solutions‑focused mindset, good judgement, and strong attention to detail. They will be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team and be resilient and adaptable in response to changing priorities.

- Relevant experience or a strong interest in environmental, operational, or community‑based services
- Strong interpersonal skills and a customer‑focused approach
- The ability to build positive working relationships
