About the Role
Assistant Youth worker – Part time 5 hours per week – split over 2 sessions of 2.5 hours each in the Charnwood locality.

The Youth & Justice Service is a dedicated service for children aged 11+ who need support. We offer a wide range of non‑statutory and statutory interventions to children who are experiencing difficulties where support cannot be provided by universal services alone. We have strong relationships with wider services and partnerships to ensure we can deliver the best possible support and care.
Responsibilities
- Work flexibly to meet the needs of children, families and victims
- Undertake complex assessments of the needs of children and families
- Be responsible for developing your practice and undertaking and implementing learning
- Listen to and act upon children’s voice to strive for the best outcomes
About You
To be considered for this role you must have permanent rights to work within the UK and you must have Level 2 or equivalent qualifications in Maths & English. You should also hold a valid driving licence, have access to a vehicle and be able to work two evenings per week in the Charnwood locality.
Qualifications and Experience
- Level 2 or equivalent qualification in Maths & English and experience of working with young people aged 11‑19
- Knowledge and/or experience to assist in planning, setting up, and running youth work sessions and events in a respectful, consistent, and approachable manner
- Ability to ensure all young people feel welcome, included, and supported regardless of background or ability
- Ability to follow and understand safeguarding procedures, and report concerns promptly and appropriately
- Effective communication with colleagues and a positive contribution to the team and the youth work offer
- Dependable, punctual, and proactive in supporting youth work delivery
- Confidence in contributing and participating in supervision, training and team reflection to improve practice
An enhanced barred list DBS check is required for this post.
