Role Overview
As an SEN Support Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored support to pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across the school.
Responsibilities
- Provide tailored support to pupils with SEND across the school.
- Work closely with class teachers and the SENDCo to implement individual learning plans and support strategies.
- Deliver targeted one‑to‑one and small‑group interventions to support academic progress and personal development.
- Support pupils with communication, social, emotional and behavioural needs.
- Adapt learning activities and resources to meet individual pupil requirements.
- Encourage independence, confidence, and positive engagement in learning.
- Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teachers and relevant staff.
- Help create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for all pupils.
- Build positive relationships with pupils, parents, and external professionals where appropriate.
- Contribute to the wider life of the school community.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children with SEND within a school or educational setting.
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
- Ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
- Demonstrated patience, empathy, resilience and a caring approach.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Confidence working independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Ability to adapt effectively to meet the varying needs of individual pupils.
- Good literacy and numeracy skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Relevant Teaching Assistant or SEND qualifications (desirable but not essential).
