Position Overview

Portland School has an exciting opportunity for an unqualified teacher to join the school to teach engaging and inspiring learning experiences in Creative & Media, including Art, Design and Photography, for pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

The postholder will spend approximately 50% of their allocated time teaching, with the remaining time dedicated to curriculum development, enrichment activities, intervention programmes, assessment, pastoral support, displays, exhibitions and contributing to the wider life of the school.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach creative and media subjects to pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Develop pupils’ artistic skills, confidence, self‑expression, emotional wellbeing and aspirations.
  • Plan, deliver and assess lessons in a supportive, therapeutic and trauma‑informed learning environment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, enrichment and intervention programmes.
  • Provide pastoral support, maintain displays and exhibitions, and contribute to wider school life.
