Creswell Grove Children’s Home is looking for a reliable, hands‑on part‑time handyperson to help us provide a high‑quality living environment for the young people we support. This role is 15 hours per week, ideally worked over two days but can be flexible.

You’ll be at the heart of what makes our home feel safe and comfortable. You will carry out repairs, maintenance and decoration, complete essential safety checks, and help keep our building and grounds in top condition.

We’re looking for someone who can commit to the core weekly hours and who is also flexible enough to meet the needs of the home when things change.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out everyday repairs, maintenance tasks and decoration to a high standard.
  • Complete equipment and safety checks to ensure full health & safety compliance.
  • Receive and safely store equipment and supplies in line with COSHH guidance.
  • Keep accurate records for all maintenance, service checks and safety documentation.
  • Test fire systems and support regular fire evacuation drills.
  • Maintain both indoor and outdoor areas, including gardens, to keep the home safe and welcoming.
  • Secure all materials and equipment in line with risk assessments.
  • Encourage and motivate young people to take pride in their home environment.
  • Work closely with the Bursar and Registered Manager, and liaise with external contractors where needed.

Ideal Candidate

  • Experienced in premises maintenance or similar hands‑on roles.
  • Detail focused and proud of delivering high‑quality work.
  • Willing to attend training and develop your skills.
  • A team player with a flexible, can‑do attitude.
