Early Years Assistant

Salary: £29,432 per annum (dependent on qualification and experience). Hours: Full time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Location: Golders Green, London.

Overview

The role is based in a 53‑place setting located in a converted house with an indoor and outdoor play area. As a SEN Support Early Years Assistant you will work closely with three children with SEN needs in the pre‑school room, providing support across the day to help children reach their key developmental milestones.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in caring for babies and children up to age 5 as part of a collaborative team.
  • Plan and support interactive play, activities, reading and learning experiences that encourage curiosity and development.
  • Support children with SEN needs in the pre‑school room, helping with varied tasks throughout the day.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement learning plans and support services.
  • Maintain a safe, supportive and hygienic environment for all children.
  • Communicate effectively with children, parents and other staff, using a variety of techniques to build trust and strong partnerships.
  • Adhere to safeguarding procedures and participate in safer recruitment practices, including enhanced DBS checks, prior to appointment.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with children (e.g., nursery assistant, teaching assistant, early years educator, nanny, childminder) – preferred but not essential.
  • Passion for making learning fun and engaging for each child.
  • Ability to build trust and partnerships with colleagues and parents.
  • Strong communication skills suitable for both children and adults.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child welfare.
