Lead Cloud Platform Engineer

Location: Any UK Bupa office (North: Salford Quays or Leeds; South: Staines, London or Brighton)

Time type: Full time, 37.5 hours per week

Job area: IT; Permanent

Salary: £74,400 per annum (DOE and location), plus 10% bonus

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, build and evolution of cloud‑based platforms and infrastructure
• Set technical direction and support best practices for platform engineering
• Ensure systems are secure, reliable and scalable
• Drive automation and continuous improvement of platform services
• Collaborate with engineering, security and operations teams
• Support the delivery of applications by providing robust platform capabilities
• Monitor performance and respond to incidents to maintain service quality
• Coach and support other engineers, sharing knowledge and guidance
• Ensure solutions align with internal standards and regulatory requirements

Key Skills / Qualifications

• Strong experience working with cloud platforms (e.g. Azure, AWS or GCP)
• Expertise in platform engineering, infrastructure and automation
• Experience leading or mentoring engineers
• Confidence working with deployment, monitoring and configuration tools
• Knowledge of scripting or programming languages (e.g. Python, PowerShell or similar)
• Understanding of security, reliability and performance in cloud environments
• Clear communication and ability to work with a range of stakeholders
• Proactive, solution‑focused approach
