Heartland Vets is looking for an enthusiastic Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly and supportive team in the heart of Highland Perthshire. This is a permanent mixed animal role, with fixed-term opportunities also considered for the right candidate.
This is a genuinely varied position with a strong mixed caseload, offering excellent opportunities to develop across both small and large animal practice within a supportive, close-knit team.
Practice Highlights
- True mixed practice with approximately 60% small animal and 40% large animal caseload
- Large animal work including beef cattle, sheep, pigs, deer, poultry, and camelids
- Equine work including vaccinations, dentistry, and occasional colic cases
- Small animal caseload including dogs, cats, and rabbits
- Two-site practice (Aberfeldy main hub and Pitlochry branch)
- Experienced and supportive team including 5 vets, 3 nurses, student nurse, and 6 support staff
- Well-equipped with digital X-ray, ultrasound, Ovacyte faecal analyser, stance analyser, PRP therapy kit, bull fertility testing equipment, and motorised equine dental kit
- Wide geographical coverage offering a diverse and interesting caseload across Highland Perthshire
How You’ll Make a Difference
- Deliver clinical care across small animal, farm, and equine cases
- Manage routine consultations, surgical procedures, and emergency cases
- Participate in the out-of-hours rota (1 in 5 including weekends and weeknights)
- Work collaboratively across both branches to support case continuity
- Contribute to a supportive and team-focused clinical environment
Working Pattern
- Full-time and part-time applications considered
- Flexible working patterns available (including condensed or school-hour options where possible)
- No routine weekend work outside of OOH rota commitments
- 1 in 5 out-of-hours rota with time off in lieu following weekends

You Might Be a Great Fit If…
